Summary description from Wikipedia:
Viviparidae
Viviparidae, commonly called river snails or mystery snails, are a family of freshwater snails with gills and a protective lid (operculum). Recent studies show that their family tree is more complex than expected, with genetic evidence suggesting some species don't fit neatly into traditional groups. These snails are found in lakes and rivers across Europe, Asia, and parts of North America, where some, like Cipangopaludina japonica, have spread as invasive species thanks to their ability to adapt.
